Seriously? I mean- I’m not complaining, considering I could be obsessed with something ~way weirder, but what is it about the popular store that keeps us all coming back? Is it because everything is always so organized and easy to find? Is it because we can buy groceries, an iPhone, clothes, and a new espresso machine all on the same shopping trip? Or is it because we can get a Starbucks coffee and personal size Pizza Hut pizza (which we all know tastes way better than their full sized pies) while we shop so we can go broke, fuel our caffeine addictions, and eat pizza all at the same time (ding ding ding we have a winner!)?
Whatever it is that Target’s marketing and PR teams are doing to keep us all wanting to come back, it’s definitely working.
I also want to know why the fuck I can NEVER leave Target with only what I initially intended to buy. I can go with the solid mindset of only needing coffee creamer and makeup wipes, and end up leaving with those things plus some protein bars, a toy for my goddaughter, and a bottle of wine (obviously). It’s a complete blackout when I walk through those automatic doors. I throw things into my shopping cart and remove them as I walk down other aisles until I have my final cart. The lucky items make it to the checkout lane, and the rest get left in random aisles that they don’t belong in (apologizing to all Target employees now). It’s all a giant blur until I’m checking out and I’m $100 over my budget and I have brand new wall decor and pillows for my living room. Judging me? You better not be because I know you do the same thing. How many of you have seriously ever left Target only with the specific things on your list? If you tell me you have I know you’re lying and I don’t trust you.
Moral of the story: I’m obsessed with Target and I’m never going to not be.
It’s kind of like a therapy session, except instead of paying to sit and talk to someone, you can be alone for an hour and buy shit you don’t need. Sounds ideal to me. Will it one day drive me to bankruptcy? Probably. Do I care? No. As long as I can go take long, therapeutic walks down the aisles, I’ll be happy. Who knows what I’ll end up with next time I walk in. Will it be a candle? A KitchenAid mixer? New decorative pillows? A TV? It’s like Russian Roulette, except no one gets shot and you go home with something new. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like fun to me!
Let me know what your thoughts on Target are and if you too find yourself leaving with things that weren’t on your list. I’d love to know what you all add to your carts!
Hugs and kisses from your local Target frequenter,
Nicki G.

Cool blog! Lexi is obsessed with target I refuse to go with her at this point… unless it’s one with a Starbucks and she gets me a sweet cream cold brew. =D
See you at work.
