So Yesterday Was National Lazy Day

So Yesterday Was National Lazy Day

First of all, why aren’t there more National Lazy Days? Second, why did I work on National Lazy Day? And THIRD: I actually don’t have a third point and I’m too lazy to come up with one.

Seriously, though.

I’m concerned as to why no one even told me it was such a big holiday. I mean, who doesn’t love a lazy day of doing nothing? Quite frankly, I have a few of those every now and then… but a girl could always use more- especially a nationally recognized one.

I love lazy days. Not in a do-nothing-with-my-life-forever kind of way, but in a I’m-always-busy-and-wanna-be-a-potato kind of way. We all work or go to school literally all the time, so why not have a lazy day of doing absolutely nothing every once in a while? Sleeping in past noon, sitting on the couch binge watching your favorite show (BTW- Orange Is The New Black is back!), and ordering takeout to complete your successful day of potato-ing (is that a verb?). We all need to disconnect from the world sometimes, and I think allowing ourselves a lazy day every now and then is a great way to do that.

So if you’re reading this, don’t forget to chill every once in a while. Take one day off from school, work, life– I promise you’ll survive. Sleep in. Your bed misses you. Have breakfast at 1:00 p.m. Stay in your pajamas. Wear the fuzzy socks you never wear. Have cereal for dinner. You deserve to turn off your brain for one day & think about absolutely nothing.

Here’s to remembering the importance of yesterday’s holiday today. To being lazy! (In a semi-productive, responsible, non-self-destructive way). A lot can come from taking a day for you and only you. Maybe you’ll discover a muse you didn’t even know you were missing in your life.

Happy Saturday & Happy Chillaxing,

Nicki G.

P.S. This doesn’t apply to you if you have a big deadline or assignment due soon…or if you’re already on a path of extreme laziness. Be smart. Get your shit together.
